Born and raised in the bluffs of Memphis, Tennessee, James Guy has dedicated the past decade to honing his craft in ways that would be beneficial not only to himself but to other likeminded creators through meaningful partnerships. 

 

James received his bachelor's degree in music business from The University of Memphis in the summer of 2018. While he started out as an education major, finishing most of his coursework through the school of music, towards the end of his time at Memphis James's passion for writing started to take shape. From 2017-2018 he worked as a student composer in collaboration with Blue TOM Records, the school of music's own record label, writing and conducting artist arrangements for both This Is Memphis festivals during those years.

A strong advocate and supporter of music education, James spent three years as music director for the Earle School District in Earle, Arkansas.

James is currently completing a graduate degree in Film/Tv Scoring through Berklee Online. He's collaborated on several student films at The University of Memphis and Georgia Southern University.
